You hardly see any gypsy fortune teller cartoons any more . . . I'm assuming it's because of political correctness .
Actually, to me, it is more at making fun at hacks, or charlatans, or phonies . . . let's face it, there are endless stories of this type person taking advantage of either unsophisticated elderlies, the ignorant, the gullible, etc. - - - the country bumpkin who just arrived in the city, etc.
A fool and his money are soon parted.
Gypsies, tramps and thieves . . . It's amazing Sonny and Cher were never sued !
Anyway, I always thought it was a funny occupation . . .
I guess it's one of those things . . . it's funny if you're laughing at someone else, as long as it isn't you . . . right ?
