 Hef usually likes to see the holiday cartoon

roughs and ideas around June/July early in the year

to give everybody time to do a timely good job.  

Hef still has the final say on every cartoon in

every magazine.  It's always been this way from its infancy. 

The cartoon has always been one of his favorite parts of the magazine, since Hef himself is a pretty good cartoonist himself and early in life wanted to be a cartoonist.
