Balthasar Gracian's Art of Worldly Wisdom -
It is time to reflect back at 2011 - - - we have but one more day to look back this year and savor all the good stuff that has happened, either in YOUR life OR in this world . . . OR you can dwell on the negative events that transpired . . . it is wise and good to learn from the bad stuff, then quickly shake it off.
--------------------------------
One of my favorite sages and that I recommend for you get is the website of: Balthasar Gracian's Art of Worldly Wisdom . . . it's free and a great way to start your day.
He gives you a pearl of wisdom every day . . .
I especially liked today's gold nugget . . . It sure reminds me of people I know and that I like to stay away from . . . Here it is.
" Like vain, presumptous, egotistical, untrustworthy, capricious, obstinate, fanciful, theatrical, inquisitive, paradoxical, sectarian people and all kinds of one-sided persons: they are all monstrosities of impertinence. All deformity of mind is more obnoxious than that of the body, because it contravenes a higher beauty. Yet who can assist such a complete confusion of mind ? Where self-control is wanting, there is no room for other's guidance. Instead of paying attention to other people's real derision, men of this kind blind themselves with the unfounded assumption of their imaginary applause. "

Cataract Surgery
On Thursday, November 10, I had cataract surgery on my right eye . Everything went all right except for a slight black eye . . . . I'm sure everything will be okay in a few days. Not too much activity in the next few days here. Next month they'll do the right eye.
You take your eyesight for granted, then when you're visually impaired in one way or another, you then know how really valuable that eye is, especially in this business . . . and makes you humble and thankful, especially around Thanksgiving.

Thought for the day -
" The man who never makes mistakes loses a great many chances to learn something. "
I think it's good to remember this as you pile up the rejection slips in this business . . . you have to, from time to time, reevaluate your work, with a fine tooth comb . . . inspect what you expect . . . evolve, tweak it . . . and voila . . it starts to happen . . . otherwise, if you think positive thinking by itself is going to do it, you are misguided . . . or belief by itself ain't gonna do it . . .remember, if you jump out of a 10-story building, you will always go down . . . no matter how much you believe or how much positiveness you have, you will still always go down.
I ain't going anywhere, so they might as well buy, is the way I look at it. What they don't understand is I want to sell my work more than they want to reject my work. They just think my work is not right . . . Just because they think my work is not right for them does not mean it is not right . . . This could be The New Yorker or a syndicate or any publication for that matter.
This is my own philosophy I am sharing with you. It works for me.
It doesn't get any better than this.

( Forget about Peter Plum ) It was just a bad dream.
But I do like the name.
