" Love will teach us all things,
but we must learn how to win love. It is got

bought with much labor and a long time,
for one must love not sometimes only but always.  And let not men's sin dishearten thee:
love a man even in his sin, for that love is
a likeness of the divine love, and is a summit

Dis 'n Dat

---------------------

Although I forgot to sign my name to this cartoon,
please don't swipe it.  ( actually I DIDN'T forget, at first I looked at quickly and noticed that my name was not on the right bottom side of the drawing, where I usually place it, but didn't discover my error until AFTER writing everything else below )

I appreciated the fact that in the past when this occurred, my collegue and friend,
Eli Stein reminded me to be careful and always sign your stuff because people will "borrow" it and use it unauthorized but , but alas, I am forgetful sometimes . .

When this happens, and I see it,
( Which HAS happened, twice ),

I send the alleged guilty guy an Email and warn him, just like Liam Neeson did in " TAKEN " . . I tell the party: ( very politely ) . . . " Listen, carefully . . . Sooner or later, the chances are, unfortunately, you would meet a guy like myself.

I have been trained for 30 years at this, please stop immediately in authorized use of my material . . . If you do NOT, I will hunt you down until I find you.  I know how to fix it. "

Amazingly, both times the offending parties were very apologetic and nice and contrite, AND immediately with a smile, like a knee-jerk reaction, obeyed my suggestion.

I won't mention names, but one of the parties gave me a $75.00 credit to use in buying merchandise from their company ! ( Along with a personal apologetic phone call
from a Vice-President of the huge corporation in the Bahamas.

It is amazing the power of words and their effects.

I think I would have liked to be known as a "wordsmith",
if there WAS a real occupation like that . . .

In Wikipedia, it woud say:  - Roy Delgado: Ex-Marine, Entrepreneur, sign painter, cartoonist, writer, student of psychology, motivator, wordsmith, philosopher.

I think I'd like that . . .  Hey, maybe even engraved on the marble headstone on my last resting place, who the Hell knows?

------------------------

Which reminds me of a true story I heard years ago,
it stated that one guy had engraved on his headstone:
" I TOLD you I was sick ! "

I love it.

You can't make this up.
( or maybe you CAN )

Nyze 'n Fluffi Comic Panel - Origin

A new comic panel in the works . . . a remake and improved
version I tried awhile back . . . It all starts with an idea . . . then you begin
to get excited, passion sets in more than ever before . . . you've
been down this road many times . . excitement to the point
of almost euphoria is now in full throttle . . you
begin to mumble to yourself . . . you don't finish
sentences . . . you wonder again, but you try not to
sustain the thought that this one will also end up either on
the trash heap, the bottom shelf ( to be thrown away later )
or
maybe, maybe . . THIS is the one the Bluebird
of Happiness has brought you . . . it was always
out there . . in the ether . . . ready for my taking it !
What else could you ask for?

Now, the development of this tiny ( at this time, just a germ )
idea . . . that is all that it is . . . I know this . . . Up to this point,
they are a dime a dozen . . . but, maybe, just maybe . .
remember, you are right now, witnessing the infancy of this " thing "
right here, live . . as it is beginning to germinate . . .

for now, nuf sed.

Saturday Evening Post Cartoon - Roy Delgado

This drawing appears on page 42 in the current issue, ( Sept/Oct )  of TheSaturday Evening Post.

Amazing, this drawing was done back in 2003 . . . has been around the markets twice and finally hits pay dirt at the Post.

I did it in pencil and then finished it off with the PaintShopPro9 Program.  ( Which I could easily endorse)

Cartoon of the Day - Roy Delgado 18048

In trying to push the envelope, you can occasionally get into trouble because everyone sees it differently . . . what is racist to one would just be tolerent to others . . .the second would say, ' What's the big deal ? 'there is a thin line however . . . and usually the two never meet in agreement . . . anyway, I think it's funny, and I can't see any harm ( But who really knows, maybe I'm a closet racist and don't know it ? )

Lighten up, fer Crysakes!

Wisdom from Balthasar Gracian

From Balthasar's  " The Art of Worldly Wisdom "

" Where the one is fickle the other is enduring.  The first for life, the second afterwards; the one against envy, the other against oblivion.  Fortune is desired, at times assisted: fame is earned.  The desire for fame springs from man's best part.  It was and is the sister of the giants; it always goes to extremes - - horrible monsters or brilliant prodigies. "

( This is Aphorism #10 Fortune and Fame )

-----------------------------------------------------

I just recently stumbled upon this gifted, holy, humble visionary, ( I call him ) . . . . his site has an aphorism everyday . . . although some are a little lengthy, some are home runs . . . I highly recommend the site for a quick shot of energy and humbleness first thing in the morning . . a good way to start your day . . . It's really great to be alive !

As Hugh Prather would say:  " It's really safe to be happy now. "

( Gee, I'm glad he reminded us ! )

Cartoon of the week - Roy Delgado

This is the second tracing . . . I usually do three to get the finished version . . but actually, sometimes there is a freshness in the quick unfinished drawing that 'looks' good as is . . . so . . . I'll probably let this one slide . . . I'm leaning towards doing them ALL this way . . just let it happen and see what evolves , ... it is what it is . . . anyhow, who's keeping score of all this ?

cartoon of the day - Roy Delgado

---------------------------------------------------

" Arrows pierce the body, insults the soul.  Sweet pastry perfumes the breath.  It is great art in life to know how to sell wind.  Most things are paid for in words, and by them you can remove impossibilities.  Thus we deal in air, and a royal breath can produce courage and power.  Always have your mouth full of sugar to sweeten your words, so that even your ill-wishers enjoy them. To please one must be peaceful. "

Sid Harris, Roy Delgado, Sam Gross, Tom Hachtman

On my last jaunt to NYC, I stopped at the Pergola Des Artistes for lunch with a few New Yorker Cartoonists . . . great food, great wine, nice get-together . . . it's a real pick-me-upper when I'm around a few giants in this business . . . . I don't care what anybody says . . After one of these gigs  . . . .and I return to my drawing board I swear I'm a better cartoonist, maybe it's osmosis . . I actually don't wanna know . . . it is what it is . . .

All I know is it's going real fast . . . There are 60 ruby seconds in every diamond-studded minute . And there are 60 diamond-studded minutes  in every silver hour . . . and then there's 24 silver hours in every golden day . . . you better grab a hold of it . . . because it's here . . . and then it's gone!

You only go around once, but if you do it right, once is enough!

Stay focused on what challenging and meaningful to you.

Be careful what you believe.

I like Paul Meyer's definition of success:

" Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, wholeheartedly believe and enthusiastically act upon, will inevitably come to pass. "
