Reader's Digest cartoon - Roy Delgado

This drawing appears on page 80 in the February issue.

I almost always use characters in my military cartoons depicted as U. S. Marines.   Since I proudly wore the uniform for four years, I of course have the correct details of the summer and winter uniforms embedded in my mind's eye forever and of course the famous dress blue uniform is always ready when needed . . . The dress blue uniform is only worn for formal affairs.

The dress blue uniform is not issued to every marine . . . it IS however issued to you if it is worn in the particular job you are assigned to, for example, all embassy guards around the world wear it, ceremonial guard units, like the ones stationed at Marine Barracks in downtown Washington, D.C., where I was stationed at wear it, that outfit is the same guys you see that guard the President of the United States.
