one of my favorite cartoons . . . rejected by
The Mankoffer at the
The New Yorker magazine . . .
( as a black and white wash drawing )
then sold immediately to Playboy the
second time out. MY gain, (AND PLAYBOY'S),
The Yorker's loss, as I see it.

This cartoon is a classic gag formula; great setup, and then the surprise twist at the end. Great work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Wriot, for your astute observation . . . you are absolutely right . . . in the old days you used to see Bob Hope and Milton Berle use this type of staging for a lot of their material,
ReplyDeleteit's a typical familiar situation, then you get set up . . . then POW. You almost can't refrain from at least gigling. It is my favorite type of gag.
